Can VUELUXE match a hotel brand’s metallic finish?

VUELUXE standard frame finishes are brushed black aluminium and brushed gold aluminium. These two finishes match the tapware specifications used in approximately 90% of Australian hotel bathroom fit-outs. For the majority of hotel projects, no custom finish is required — the standard finishes are directly comparable to the matte black and brushed brass/gold tapware specifications that dominate contemporary Australian hotel bathrooms.

Why standard finishes match most hotel specifications

Australian hotel bathroom tapware has consolidated around two dominant finish families over the past decade: matte/brushed black and brushed gold or brass. This consolidation reflects a broader shift in premium residential and hospitality design away from chrome toward warmer and darker metallic finishes. VUELUXE’s two standard frame finishes were selected specifically because they align with this market reality — not as a design compromise, but as a deliberate specification decision.

Brushed black aluminium matches matte black tapware from Caroma, Brodware, Rogerseller, Phoenix, and the majority of volume tapware suppliers to the Australian hospitality market. The finish reads as consistent in a bathroom with matte black fixtures without requiring a precise colour match — the slight variation in surface texture between an aluminium frame and a brass tapware fitting is not perceptible in a completed installation.

Brushed gold aluminium matches the brushed brass and brushed gold tapware finishes available from the same suppliers. Again, the aluminium substrate produces a slightly different surface quality than a brass tap, but the visual result in a completed bathroom is a consistent warm metallic palette. Interior designers who have specified VUELUXE brushed gold frames alongside brushed gold tapware consistently confirm the match is acceptable without requiring a sample comparison in most cases.

Confirming a finish match before ordering

For hotel projects where the tapware specification has already been locked in and the procurement manager wants to confirm the mirror frame finish before placing an order, the most reliable approach is a physical sample. VUELUXE can supply a sample mirror in the relevant frame finish for comparison against the tapware specification. The sample cost is credited to the production order once placed. This removes any uncertainty about finish compatibility before 100 or more units are committed.

Providing tapware specification sheets or product codes from the tapware supplier alongside a sample request helps VUELUXE confirm whether the standard finish is appropriate or whether a custom finish assessment is warranted. In most cases, the standard finish is confirmed as a match within the sample assessment process. Where it is not — typically in properties with a highly specific metallic specification outside the black and gold palette — the custom finish path is discussed at that stage.

Custom finish orders — when they are appropriate

Custom finish orders are available for hotel projects that require a finish outside the standard brushed black and brushed gold range. The minimum quantity for a custom finish order is 200 units, and the lead time is 12 weeks from order confirmation and deposit receipt. Custom finish options include specific RAL or NCS colour-matched powder coat finishes, custom brushing direction and grain, and non-standard metallic tones such as pewter, satin nickel, or unlacquered brass adjacent finishes.

The 200-unit minimum reflects the production economics of a custom powder coat run — below this quantity, the per-unit cost increase from the custom production setup makes the order financially unviable relative to the standard finish alternatives. For large hotel projects (a flagship property or a multi-property portfolio order), the 200-unit threshold is typically met. For boutique properties with 20–50 units, the threshold is generally not met, and the recommendation is to select the nearest standard finish or to adapt the tapware specification to align with standard mirror finishes.

To initiate a custom finish inquiry, provide the following: the target finish description (RAL or NCS code if available, or a reference sample), total unit quantity, delivery date, and the tapware specification the finish needs to match. VUELUXE will assess feasibility and return a custom finish quotation covering unit pricing, lead time, and any minimum quantity constraints.

Chrome and silver-toned tapware specifications

For hotel properties with chrome tapware specifications, the appropriate mirror choice is a frameless model rather than a framed model in either standard finish. A chrome frame adjacent to chrome tapware creates a visual conflict in most bathroom compositions — slight tonal differences between chrome mirror frames and chrome tapware are more perceptible than the differences between brushed finishes. Frameless mirrors resolve this cleanly: the mirror integrates into the bathroom without a frame that competes with the tapware finish.

VUELUXE frameless models are available in standard sizes across the hospitality range and include demister, IP44 rating, and RCM certification consistent with the framed range. For hotel procurement managers specifying a chrome tapware bathroom with a contemporary clean aesthetic, the frameless rectangular or round models are the standard recommendation.

Finish consistency across a refurbishment program

For hotel properties on a rolling refurbishment program — replacing rooms in batches over multiple years — finish consistency across batches is a practical concern. VUELUXE standard finishes are maintained consistently across production runs. A brushed black aluminium frame ordered in year one of a refurbishment program will match a brushed black aluminium frame ordered in year three, within the normal tolerance of powder coat production. For properties with a specific consistency requirement, VUELUXE can retain a finish reference sample for the duration of a multi-year program and confirm batch consistency against it before each stage order is dispatched.
