VLFR-01 round framed vs VLM-07 arch — comparison

VLFR-01 round framed vs VLM-07 arch — comparison

The VLFR-01 is wider than tall (700×700mm), suits horizontal vanity layouts, and uses a framed oval form with a combination halo/backlit panel LED construction. The VLM-07 is taller than wide (550×950mm), suits vertical wall space, and uses a Cathedral arch form with edge halo lighting. Both are the designer-spec end of the VUELUXE range — neither is a default volume build specification.

Physical orientation — the key difference

The most fundamental difference between these two mirrors is their orientation relative to the wall. The VLFR-01 sits in landscape — wider than tall. It emphasises the horizontal axis of the vanity bench and wall. The VLM-07 sits in portrait — taller than wide. It draws the eye vertically and creates a strong vertical focal point on the bathroom wall.

This is not a subtle difference. In a bathroom with ceiling heights of 2.4–2.7m, a portrait arch mirror creates a fundamentally different spatial experience than a landscape oval mirror. The arch uses the room’s vertical dimension; the oval anchors the horizontal. Neither is better — they respond to different room proportions and different design briefs.

VLFR-01 round framed — when to specify

The VLFR-01 is 800mm wide × 600mm tall. It suits:

  • Bathrooms with lower ceiling heights (2.4m) where a tall mirror would feel cramped
  • Long vanity benches (900–1200mm single basin) where a wider mirror fills the wall more proportionally
  • Bathrooms where the horizontal design emphasis is strong — a long stone benchtop, a feature tile band at the wall, a wide-format freestanding bath
  • Master ensuites where a round mirror reads as too generic and the brief calls for something more distinctive without the strong vertical drama of the arch

The VLFR-01’s 800mm width over a 900–1200mm single-basin vanity gives proportionally correct coverage. Its 700mm height is lower than the 950mm arch formats — the VLFR-01 sits lower on the wall per unit of width, which reads as more considered and less dominant. This suits bathrooms where other elements — a tall tile pattern, a high ceiling pendant, a window — are doing vertical work and the mirror should not compete.

VLM-07 arch — when to specify

The VLM-07 is 600mm wide × 900mm tall. It suits:

  • Bathrooms with high ceiling heights (2.7m+) where the vertical dimension is underutilised
  • Feature bathrooms where the mirror is the intended centrepiece — above a vessel basin, a freestanding bath, or a single statement vanity
  • Powder rooms where a strong vertical statement in a compact space creates drama
  • Hotel guestrooms and luxury residential master ensuites where the arch is a deliberate design signature

The VLM-07’s 600mm width over a 750–900mm vanity gives appropriate horizontal coverage. The 900mm height creates a tall vertical presence — the arch top extends well above the eye line and draws the gaze upward. In rooms with sufficient ceiling height, this effect is dramatic and positive. In rooms with 2.4m ceilings and a vanity at standard height, the 900mm tall mirror can feel like it is reaching toward the ceiling — confirm ceiling height before specifying the VLM-07.

LED construction comparison

The VLFR-01 uses a combination approach: edge halo at the perimeter of the oval frame plus a backlit sandblasted panel zone within the mirror face. This creates a richer light effect — the perimeter glows and the mirror face has an internal luminous quality. Total light output is higher than a comparable single-approach mirror.

The VLM-07 uses edge halo only — LEDs behind the glass projecting outward through the sandblasted edge. The arch shape means the halo traces the arch profile, including the curved top edge — the glow follows the architectural curve of the mirror. At night, the arch halo is a distinctive silhouette against the bathroom wall.

Both mirrors run dual CCT (2700K/4000K), CRI 90+, and integrated demister. The LED quality and grooming light performance are equivalent.

Frame finish

VLFR-01: brushed gold or brushed black, both available as standard.
VLM-07: brushed gold as standard. Custom frame finishes available to order — confirm at time of purchase.

Both mirrors use brushed aluminium framing. Both are most commonly specified in warm-toned bathrooms with stone benchtops and gold or gunmetal tapware — these are feature mirrors in high-specification contexts where the metal palette is considered.

Installation requirements

VLFR-01 (700×700mm): landscape orientation, keyhole mounting slots on rear frame. Confirm stud positions align with keyhole positions before marking wall. The 800mm width may span two stud positions at 600mm centres — one stud fix per side is achievable in standard timber frame construction.

VLM-07 (550×950mm): portrait orientation with arch at top. Keyhole mounting slots at top of frame behind arch. Single stud fix at top is possible if the stud is positioned centrally behind the mirror. The tall format means the fixing point is high on the wall — confirm the fixing position does not conflict with ceiling joists or plumbing. See the oval range and arch range for fixing dimension diagrams.

Summary

  • VLFR-01: landscape oval, 700×700mm, suits horizontal emphasis, low ceiling contexts, wide single vanities
  • VLM-07: portrait arch, 550×950mm, suits vertical emphasis, high ceilings, feature bathroom statements
  • VLFR-01 LED: combination halo + backlit panel — richer light effect
  • VLM-07 LED: edge halo only — dramatic arch silhouette
  • Both: dual CCT, CRI 90+, demister, brushed aluminium frame, keyhole fix
