Does the warranty transfer if I sell the home?

Yes — the VUELUXE warranty transfers automatically to subsequent owners without any registration, notification, or paperwork. The warranty runs from the original purchase invoice date, not from the date of sale or settlement. For builders who purchase mirrors and sell the completed home within the warranty period, the remaining warranty time passes to the new homeowner from the moment of settlement.

How the transfer works

There is no action required to transfer the warranty. VUELUXE does not maintain a warranty registry tied to individual owners. The warranty is attached to the product and to the original purchase invoice — whoever owns the home where the mirror is installed has the benefit of the remaining warranty period as of the settlement date. No transfer form is required. No notification to VUELUXE is required. No new account setup is required.

The practical documentation implication is that the builder should provide the original VUELUXE purchase invoice as part of the handover documentation pack. This invoice establishes the warranty start date and the purchasing entity (the builder). When the homeowner receives the handover pack with the invoice included, they have everything they need to make a warranty claim if required — the invoice, the product name, and the purchase date. Nothing else is needed.

What the homeowner receives at handover

For builders using VUELUXE mirrors across a residential project, the handover documentation for bathroom mirrors should include: the VUELUXE purchase invoice (establishing the warranty start date), the VUELUXE warranty terms summary (confirming what is covered and for how long), and the product specification sheet for the model installed (so the homeowner knows what they have). VUELUXE provides a warranty terms letter and product specification sheet to trade account holders at no charge — these can be included in the standard handover pack template.

For builders who produce a schedule of fixtures and fittings document as part of their handover package — which is standard practice for volume residential builders and required under some state building regulations — the mirror schedule should include the model name, finish, dimensions, and warranty period for each mirror installed. VUELUXE can provide this information in a format suitable for inclusion in a fixtures schedule.

Warranty start date — purchase invoice, not installation date

The warranty runs from the purchase invoice date, not the installation date. For builders who purchase mirrors several months before installation — which is common on larger residential projects where bathrooms are fitted out well after the initial material procurement — the warranty period is effectively shorter than the full stated term by the time the homeowner takes possession.

For a builder who purchases mirrors in January and settles the home in November of the same year, the homeowner receives 10 months of warranty period already elapsed. The 5-year LED strip warranty runs from January, not November. This means the homeowner receives approximately 4 years and 2 months of LED warranty coverage from settlement.

This is standard industry practice across most construction products — the warranty starts from the supply date, not the installation date. Builders should factor this into their procurement timing, particularly for large volume residential projects where mirrors may be ordered 6–12 months before installation. Ordering closer to the installation milestone reduces the elapsed warranty period at handover.

Warranty for subsequent sales of the same property

If a homeowner sells the property within the warranty period, the remaining warranty passes to the next owner in the same way it passed from the builder to the first homeowner. The warranty is on the product installed in the home, not on a named individual. No action is required at any point in the chain of ownership — the warranty follows the product, not the person.

For investment property buyers or property investors who are purchasing a home as a rental investment rather than an owner-occupier, the warranty transfer applies equally — the investor receives the warranty for the mirrors in the property they purchase, with the remaining term from the original purchase invoice date.

Making a warranty claim as a homeowner

A homeowner making a warranty claim contacts VUELUXE directly with the original purchase invoice (from the builder’s handover pack), a description of the fault, and a photograph. VUELUXE assesses the claim and responds within two business days. Valid claims within the warranty period are resolved with a replacement unit dispatched within 2 business days of the claim being confirmed — the same no-forms, fast-replacement approach that applies to builder-direct claims.

The homeowner does not need to involve the builder in a warranty claim unless the fault is related to installation workmanship rather than the product itself. Product warranty claims are handled directly between the homeowner and VUELUXE; installation workmanship issues are the responsibility of the licensed electrician who performed the installation.
